PRP Overview

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a naturally regenerative medical procedure that uses growth factors found in the blood platelets of the patient’s own blood to heal a variety of problems. These sophisticated blood platelets have the power to quicken the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. They consist of alpha-granules that contain a variety of coagulation and growth factors, cytokines, chemokines, adhesion proteins needed to repair tissue, and dense granules with ADP, calcium and serotonin, which are necessary for platelet aggregation. By activating these platelets, PRP releases a cascade of natural healing processes known as PRP therapy that can be concentrated on target areas to foster healing specific to those areas.

Used in a number of procedures like periodontal techniques, wound therapy, plastic surgery, joint pain and orthopedic pain and injuries, Regenesis currently uses PRP therapy in three major aesthetic procedures:

Dr. Charles Lee draws a small amount of patient blood, which is then centrifuged and separated into desired platelet layers to be readied for injections. There is no worry of disease transmission because the blood platelets belong only to the patient from which they were drawn in a sterile environment.
